AWC Staff Services are looking for a Pre Construction Project Manager, with a strong background in the UK high-pressure gas sector. This role will lead the pre-construction phase of projects, from initial tender through to handover, ensuring robust planning, risk identification, and technical delivery. The role is hybrid with weekly travel to the Barnsley office; during busy periods, multiple site visits per week isn't uncommon. You must have a full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel.
Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of the UK gas market, with experience working with clients such as Cadent Gas, National Gas, and National Gas Services
- Proven ability to develop project programmes from first principles
- Experience delivering schemes including:
- ILI digs
- NARC works
- AGI rebuilds
- Stream modifications
- Boiler house renewals
- Capacity upgrades
Pre-Award:
- Act as the primary point of contact for all tender enquiries
- Manage tender timelines and submission deadlines
- Review tender opportunities and provide go/no-go recommendations
- Attend site visits across the UK
- Analyse tender documentation and identify key project risks
- Raise and manage Technical Queries (TQs)
- Develop subcontractor scopes of work and support pricing with estimators
- Produce tender programmes in line with NEC4 requirements
- Prepare technical submission responses (with H&S support where required)
Post-Award (subject to pre-award workload):
- Lead the project through the design phase as Project Manager
- Develop and issue programmes for acceptance
- Engage and coordinate subcontractors
- Produce Health & Safety documentation with support from the H&S team
- Define plant, equipment, and material requirements for procurement
- Deliver a comprehensive handover to the construction team prior to mobilisation
Start: ASAP
Duration: Permanent Position
Rate: £70,000 - £80,000 Per Annum, DOE (open to contract applications - Circa £450-£500, DOE)
