Our client is looking to recruit a Field Service Engineer to operate out of their Yorkshire/Lancashire depots. They predominantly work within the water industry on both waste and potable water, specialising in mechanical engineering works on various assets, including hydraulic systems, pipework, valves, wet well refurbishments, screw pumps, access platform installations, CSO installations, and reservoirs. The company regularly utilises rope access to carry out works in confined spaces.

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be part of a site-based team responsible for delivering a range of engineering works. You will be required to fault find and assist in developing the methodology for carrying out repairs or installations on site. Duties included within the role but not limited to are:

  • Supervising on-site teams to ensure works are carried out safely, on time, and to budget.
  • Promoting safe working practices at all times.
  • Having an inventive mind and being able to assess and fault find mechanical failure.
  • Liaising with clients to understand the root cause of failures.
  • Assisting with ordering or manufacturing of parts.
  • Assisting with RAMS development.
  • Completing reports of works undertaken, including photographic evidence.
  • Ensuring all paperwork is complete and up to date: RAMS, Permits, etc.

Our client is a reactive company and regularly undertakes emergency works for clients. The role involves a certain amount of flexibility, and overtime/working away can be a regular requirement.

Skills and Requirements

  • Previous experience within the water industry would be preferable but not essential.
  • A mechanical engineering degree would be preferred; however, recognition will be given to relevant industry experience and knowledge.
  • Full, clean driving license required.
  • Proven ability to work in and lead engineering teams of varying sizes, safely and effectively.
