AWC Staff Services are looking for an Electrical Operations Manager to work for our client at North Middlesex University Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all Electrical PPM and reactive maintenance activities across the hospital estate.
  • Oversee critical systems including: HV/LV electrical distribution, Essential services and life safety systems, Standby generation and UPS, Theatre and medical location supplies, Critical ventilation systems supporting clinical areas.
  • Ensure all works are planned to minimise disruption to live clinical environments.
  • Statutory & Healthcare Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and NHS standards, including: Electricity at Work Regulations, HTM 06-01 (Low & High Voltage Electrical Systems), HTM 06-02 (Electrical Safety in Medical Locations), HTM 03-01 (Ventilation for Healthcare Premises – operational safety elements).
  • Maintain full statutory compliance registers and inspection schedules.
  • Act as Authorised Person (Electrical) and Authorised Person (Ventilation), where formally appointed.
  • Control and manage: Electrical and ventilation permits to work, Isolation and switching procedures, Safe systems of work for high-risk activities.
  • Resource & Subcontractor Management.
  • Review, develop, and optimise PPM schedules for electrical and associated ventilation systems.
  • Ensure accurate asset data within the CAFM system (e.g. Maximo, Planon, Concept).
  • Contribute to lifecycle replacement and capital investment planning.
  • Produce reports covering: PPM compliance, Reactive performance, Risk and backlog, Electrical and ventilation statutory status.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly operational and client meetings.
  • Financial & Commercial Management: Manage electrical maintenance budgets and associated subcontract costs, Review and authorise quotations, variations, and remedial works.
  • Health, Safety & Risk Management.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement.
  • Out-of-Hours & Emergency Response: Participate in the management on-call rota, Lead response during electrical or ventilation-related service failures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing electrical services in a hospital or critical environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of HTM 06-01, HTM 06-02, and relevant ventilation safety requirements.
  • Experience managing engineering teams and specialist subcontractors.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation / Electrotechnical Services or equivalent.
  • HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering (or demonstrable equivalent experience).
  • Competency in CAFM systems and statutory compliance reporting.

Duration: 3 months (temp to perm)
Rate: £26.92 - £27.88 per hour PAYE
