AWC Water Solutions Ltd. specializes in providing integrated water and wastewater treatment plants and many other specialized industrial packaged solutions. We offer clients advanced in-house engineering & design with 3D modeling, piloting, fabrication and machining, in-house control panel shop, and a full range of field services, allowing us to provide turn-key solutions.

We are seeking an intermediate level Electrical Engineer to support the design and fabrication teams and who also brings professionalism and dedication to the work we do and the communities we serve. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in the selection and sizing of electrical equipment for water and wastewater treatment systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analyses to size electrical equipment that meets Client specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Act as electrical lead on projects.
  • Review engineering documents and verify compliance of selected electrical equipment to client specifications and industry standards and codes.
  • Work with the electrical and I&C (instrumentation and controls) design and fabrication teams to support:
  • Verifying equipment selection and sizing provided by the application engineering group.
  • Schematic and wiring diagram development (AutoCAD Electrical / EPLAN).
  • Panel layout design, component sizing, thermal analysis, cable management.
  • BOM creation and component selection (breakers, drives, PLCs, HMIs, relays, PSUs).
  • Load calculations, short-circuit analysis, cable sizing.
  • Control system architecture definition (not platform selection or programming).
  • I/O lists.
  • Review of Fabrication Drawings, Assembly Drawings, Bills of Materials, General Arrangement Drawings, Equipment Layout and support the development of change orders, etc.
  • Assist project managers with client needs by taking part in client meetings or calls.
  • Evaluate and recommend cost-effective design options without compromising quality and performance.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (fabrication, sales, etc.) and external stakeholders (vendors, owners, owners’ engineers, etc.) to achieve desired project outcomes.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices and technologies through training and self-improvement initiatives.
  • Help in the continual improvement of AWC’s Quality Management System’s practices, procedures, templates, and checklists by participating in design reviews, feedback sessions, and process improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency.
  • Assist in the development of standard product offerings.
  • Mentor and train junior team members.
  • Qualifications

    • Post Secondary Degree in Electrical Engineering.
    • Holds active P.Eng. registration in the province of BC or Alberta.
    • 5-10 years of work experience designing, sizing, and selecting process electrical equipment.
    • Designing and developing electrical and control panels.
    • Strong communication and written skills.
    • Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite, exposure to Autodesk products is an asset.
    • Strong understanding of engineering first principles utilized in the design of electrical and control systems is an asset.
    • Eligible to work in Canada.
