AWC Staff Services are looking for a Senior Authorised Person to join our client who provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. As a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) you must have proven competency at 11kV, 33kV, or 132kV. You will join our client’s substation construction team delivering critical infrastructure projects across the UK Power Networks (UKPN) Distribution Network in the East of England. High Voltage SAPs are to support HV/LV electrical engineering projects, including substation builds, network upgrades, and planned outages. You’ll work on UKPN’s 11kV, 33kV, and 132kV systems, ensuring safe and efficient operations in line with Distribution Safety Rules.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute HV switching schedules using PowerOn and other DNO tools
  • Isolate and earth high voltage apparatus safely
  • Issue Permits to Work, Sanctions for Test, and Limitations of Access
  • Develop and implement safety documentation and method statements
  • Attend client meetings and resolve operational issues
  • Mentor junior engineers and support project planning
  • Ensure compliance with UKPN safety standards, and HSE legislation

What You’ll Bring

  • SAP authorisation at 11kV, 33kV, or 132kV on a UK DNO network (e.g., UKPN, SSE, SPEN, ENWL)
  • Experience in substation construction, HV commissioning, or network maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering, safety regulations, and outage planning
  • HNC / Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Full UK driving licence – travel required across East Anglia and surrounding counties and regular attendance at their Stevenage office
