AWC Staff Services are seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join a major transmission network upgrade project in London and the South East. This significant infrastructure programme is focused on increasing power network capacity to support growing renewable energy generation and future energy demands. As a Senior Planner, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of the project by developing and managing robust programmes across the design, procurement, and construction phases. Working closely with project teams, site personnel, and stakeholders, you will ensure planning activities remain aligned with project objectives and changing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimise, and implement detailed construction programmes, including resources, outages, consents, and wayleaves.
- Produce detailed progress trackers and reporting tools where required.
- Collaborate with project teams to drive a strong planning culture across projects and business units.
- Support the integration of cost management systems to enable CPI/SPI reporting and improve project controls.
- Champion programme management policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Participate in project handover meetings with bid, commercial, and delivery teams.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors to maximise project performance.
- Provide planning expertise during tender and bid stages.
- Represent the business at client meetings and ensure key milestones and KPI requirements are achieved.
- Gather benchmarking data to support value-for-money assessments.
- Develop and manage risk, issue, and opportunity registers within change management processes.
- Stay informed on emerging planning techniques, technologies, and industry initiatives.
- Support business improvement initiatives and continuous development programmes.
- Monitor programme compliance against contractual obligations.
- Contribute to achieving project and business targets, controlling costs, managing risks, and delivering outputs safely and efficiently.
- Assist with the identification and development of strategic objectives.
Skills & Experience Required
- Full UK driving licence.
- Proficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Experience of Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts.
- Experience with change management processes.
- Experience within the energy sector is advantageous.
