AWC Staff Services are looking for a Commissioning Engineer on a Permanent basis to join their client in Hertfordshire as part of their Distribution and Connections Team. As one of the largest Independent Connection Providers (ICP's) in the UK, we support distribution network operations across infrastructure.
You will be part of our substation build team working on UKPN's 11kV, 33kV & 132kV Distribution Network on projects across the East of England. Your role will be to test and commission high‐voltage plant and apparatus onto the live distribution network, integrating with existing protection schemes. This position requires a full driver's licence and willingness to travel across multiple sites.
What will you be doing?
- Attend client meetings, encourage innovation, and resolve design issues on site.
- Produce commissioning plans, testing and commissioning high‐voltage plant and apparatus, and ensuring compliance with current legislation.
- Review and correct drawings, manage people safely, and mentor team members to enhance their technical knowledge.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven track record in testing and commissioning on high‐voltage distribution networks.
- Sound experience of engineering policy, procedure, and legislation.
- Strong decision‐making skills and ability to develop processes to improve outputs.
- Effective communication and engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of current Health, Safety and Environment legislation.
- Team player, working well with clients, designers, and site project staff.
- Qualified to HNC/Degree Level in Electrical Engineering.
