BMS Service Engineer – Bristol Area (may be asked to cover Newport/Cardiff/Taunton/Swindon/Oxford/Cheltenham/Gloucester/Hereford)

£28.76 Per Hour – Temp to Perm Position

AWC Staff Services are looking for a BMS Service Engineer to join their client, a global leader in multi-technical services, specialising in facilities management, energy transitions, and regeneration.

We are looking for an experienced BMS Service Engineer to join our growing Smart Buildings team.

You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, commissioning and supporting Building Management Systems (BMS) across a range of customer sites, including healthcare, education, government and MOD facilities.

This is a customer-facing, field-based role that combines technical expertise with problem solving and relationship management.

You'll play a key role in ensuring customers' building control systems operate efficiently while identifying opportunities for system improvements and energy performance optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, commission and maintain Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Service and fault-find on Trend, Tridium (Niagara), Distech and other BMS platforms.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive call-outs.
  • Diagnose and repair faults within BMS control panels and associated equipment.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers.
  • Identify opportunities for upgrades, remedial works and system improvements.
  • Prepare quotations and technical proposals for recommended works.
  • Produce clear service reports and maintenance documentation.
  • Build strong customer relationships and deliver a high standard of service.
  • Participate in an on-call rota (with additional remuneration).

Essential Requirements

  • City & Guilds, BTEC or NVQ qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong experience working with Building Management Systems (BMS) and HVAC controls.
  • Excellent electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Knowledge of electrical control panels.
  • Understanding of IT networks.
  • Good report writing and communication skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Skills

  • Controls engineering training or qualifications.
  • Auto CAD experience.
  • Experience working within public sector environments such as hospitals, schools, MOD or government estates.
  • Knowledge of energy optimisation and building performance improvements.
