AWC Staff Services are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems across various commercial and industrial sites. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, construction practices, and system design principles. The Fire Alarm Technician will ensure that all systems operate efficiently and comply with safety standards, providing peace of mind to our clients through reliable fire detection solutions.

We are seeking 2 technicians - One for coverage of the Midlands, and one for Essex.

Duties

  • Install fire alarm systems in accordance with technical specifications, schematics, and safety regulations
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections to ensure system functionality and compliance
  • Troubleshoot and repair faults using hand tools, power tools, and electrical knowledge
  • Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and CAD designs for system installation and modifications
  • Collaborate with construction teams during new builds or refurbishments to integrate fire alarm systems seamlessly
  • Test alarm components and ensure proper operation of detection devices, control panels, and notification appliances
  • Document all work performed accurately in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical support and training to clients on system operation and safety procedures

Experience

  • Proven experience in system design, installation, or maintenance of fire alarm systems or related electrical systems
  • Proficiency in reading schematics, technical drawings, and CAD software is highly desirable
  • Mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience is advantageous for troubleshooting complex issues
  • Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and construction practices relevant to fire alarm installation
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards, and building regulations pertaining to fire detection systems
  • Prior experience working within construction environments or on-site installation projects is preferred
