AW Hainsworth is a historic and prestigious textile manufacturer that also produces textiles for the Royal Household. Hainsworth has been responsible for weaving the look of Iconic England ever since the company was established in 1783.

We are recruiting a UKAS experienced Laboratory Technician to work within our Quality Department. You will work alongside our lab team to maintain our internal/external production and R & D testing. Main focus will be placed on our fabric testing.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Carry out technical testing of fabric to UKAS Standards.
  • Carry out internal testing using internal developed test method as appropriate.
  • Participate via interlab trials, input to their communications and attend external meetings on occasion.
  • Report and escalate test results as appropriate.
  • Offer information and advice regarding testing processes etc.
  • Participate in site technical projects and quality improvement activities.

This will be a standard day shift based working pattern with some flexibility in start and end times. The salary is competitive depending upon experience.

We are looking for someone with the below:

  • Qualified in Science or relevant subject (e.g Textile technology).
  • Experienced lab technician with good understanding of textile testing standards.
  • Good understanding of stages of fabric manufacturing and finishing.
  • Good understanding of fabric applications and related customer requirements.
  • Able to manage own workload and priorities.
  • Methodical with good attention to detail.
  • Good communication and report writing skills.
  • Able to use MS Word and Excel.
