Test Technician

Location: Easton on the Hill, Stamford
Job Type: Full Time | Permanent

Avtron is a global leader in the design and manufacture of Load Banks and Dynamometers, supplying customers across the power generation, utilities, defence and industrial sectors. We work with multinational organisations, utilities, government departments and specialist companies across mission-critical, OEM, service, plant hire and power generation markets.

Customer service is at the heart of our business. Our experienced teams work closely with customers throughout the product lifecycle, from initial requirements through to delivery and ongoing support. Our purpose-built facility is equipped with modern computer-aided design and manufacturing capabilities, supported by skilled people and robust ISO9001 quality systems.

The Role:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-focused Test Technician to join our busy Operations team at Avtron.

The Test Technician will be responsible for ensuring that product testing across our load bank product range is carried out accurately, safely and efficiently. Working closely with the Quality Manager, Production, Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering teams, you will play an important role in ensuring products meet required quality and testing standards while supporting customer delivery schedules.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with electrical or electro-mechanical experience who enjoys practical testing, fault finding and working collaboratively to resolve issues and improve processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out electrical and electro-mechanical testing and inspections safely, accurately and in line with defined test procedures, work instructions and applicable statutory requirements.
  • Provide practical support to Test Engineers and work closely with Production, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Carry out quality inspections on in-build products and processes, accurately record test results and promptly report any quality or safety issues that could affect product delivery.
  • Promote safe working practices, comply with live working permit requirements once trained and authorised, and support Avtron's right-first-time culture.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and support root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities to reduce recurring issues and rework across the product range.

Job Requirements:

  • BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or an equivalent qualification is desirable.
  • Experience working with the assembly of electro-mechanical products, with a good understanding of electrical testing processes and test documentation.
  • Strong fault-finding skills with the ability to interpret electrical/design drawings, test procedures and work instructions and investigate technical issues.
  • Good attention to detail with accurate documentation skills, alongside good computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a positive and cooperative approach, good time management and the ability to work independently as well as effectively within a wider team.

Why Join Avtron?

At Avtron, you'll become part of a collaborative engineering and manufacturing business where quality, safety, innovation and customer service are at the heart of everything we do.

You'll have the opportunity to work across a broad range of load bank products, developing your technical knowledge and practical testing skills while working alongside experienced colleagues across Operations, Engineering and Quality.

This is a hands-on role where your work directly contributes to the quality and reliability of products delivered to our customers. You'll have the opportunity to identify improvement opportunities, support root cause and corrective action activities, and play an important role in Avtron's continued focus on right-first-time manufacturing.

Our mission is to “Amplify a customer-centric culture to propel innovation and worldwide growth.” This role contributes directly to that mission by helping us deliver high-quality products safely, efficiently and to our customers' expectations.
