Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts on a rotational basis covering 06:00-18:00

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and detail-focused Compliance Officer to join our team at the Heathrow Consolidation Centre. This role is responsible for supporting the business in maintaining compliance with Health & Safety, Aviation Security, facilities, legal, regulatory and contractual requirements. The successful candidate will help maintain key management systems, support audits, oversee contractor compliance, assist with training activities, and act as a subject matter expert in Security, Safety and/or Facilities as directed by the Health and Safety and Compliance Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in a highly regulated environment who is organised, confident, and able to work both independently and as part of a wider operational team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the ISO 45001 Safety Management System and CAA-standard Security Management Systems as directed.
  • Supporting the company in meeting all relevant legal, regulatory and contractual obligations.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert in Security, Safety and/or Facilities, as required.
  • Providing proactive leadership and acting as a role model for company values.
  • Supporting internal quality assurance processes.
  • Maintaining facility maintenance and contractor planners to ensure compliance with legal and contractual standards.
  • Acting as a point of contact for contractors, including Permit to Work and Planned Preventative Maintenance activities.
  • Conducting weekly and monthly critical facility checks and ensuring accurate records are maintained.
  • Supporting compliance training activities in line with the Quality Guidance Manual.
  • Performing the roles of Internal Quality Assurer and Training Administrator where required.
  • Maintaining training and compliance records to meet legal and contractual standards.
  • Conducting reference and background checks.
  • Managing Airside Pass, CRC, CTC, GSAT and other required applications.
  • Deputising for the Health and Safety and Compliance Manager when required, including during customer meetings, incident management and audits.
  • Carrying out any other tasks within the scope of the role and business needs.

Qualifications and Certifications

The following qualifications are required or desirable depending on the subject matter expert area assigned:

  • Essential: Airport Security Manager Level 3, if acting as Security SME.
  • IOSH Managing Safely, if acting as Safety SME.
  • DNXCT holder.
  • RFX Instructor, if acting as Security SME.
  • DfT-accredited Threat Assessor.
  • Authorised signatory for airside pass applications, if acting as Security SME.
  • Valid Counter Terrorist Check.
  • Aviation Security Level 1 GSO with valid and current NXCT certificate.
  • Aviation Security Level 2 GSS.
  • Radiation Protection Supervisor qualification.

Desirable:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate, particularly for Safety SME responsibilities.
  • Recognised training qualification, such as TAP.
  • Project management skills.
  • Fire Warden qualification.
  • First Aid qualification.

Knowledge and Experience Required

The successful candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of management systems.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication, influencing and team leadership skills.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Evidence of training and/or developing team members.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

You will be a confident and organised compliance professional with a strong understanding of safety, security and regulatory requirements. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism. You will also be proactive, approachable, and able to build strong working relationships across the business and with external stakeholders.
