Job Purpose
We are seeking a versatile and pragmatic Software Engineer (AI & Machine Learning) to join the Machine Sentry development team. As a small, highly collaborative team, the successful candidate will contribute across the entire technology stack whilst helping drive the adoption of AI and machine learning within our products. This is not a pure research position; the successful candidate will be expected to work on software development, databases, APIs, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, testing and deployment.
Job Dimensions
As a member of a small development team, flexibility is essential. Team members are expected to contribute wherever required and regularly work across machine learning, backend and frontend development, mobile applications, databases, DevOps, system integration, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and technical support.
Principal Accountabilities
- Identify opportunities to apply AI and machine learning within Machine Sentry.
- Develop, evaluate and deploy machine learning models for fault detection, anomaly detection and predictive maintenance.
- Analyze condition monitoring data to identify trends and opportunities for automation.
- Work with Reliability Engineers to develop training datasets and validate AI models.
Secondary Accountabilities
- Develop and maintain Machine Sentry applications, services, APIs and databases.
- Contribute to frontend, backend and mobile application development.
- Assist with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Participate in testing, code reviews, documentation and release activities.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Knowledge of machine learning concepts and tools.
- Strong software development skills.
- Python development experience.
- SQL and database design experience.
- Understanding of REST APIs and distributed systems.
- Experience with Git and modern development practices.
- Desirable: C#, .NET, Vue.js, Azure, Docker, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Azure DevOps, Linux.
