The successful applicant will join the Asset Integrity Division delivering a range of consultancy, products and services aimed at assessing and optimising the reliability of structural/mechanical assets, such as machines, machine baseplates, support structures, pipework, buildings, civil structures etc. to improve reliability and prevent premature failures.

  • Structural resonance issues
  • Design issues due to lack of structural stiffness
  • Failure investigation and prevention
  • Quantification of operational loads (through on‑site measurements)

Projects involve visiting client sites to perform technical services, understand root causes of reliability problems, and analyse data using a wide range of instrumentation and software. Working in a small team, you will have control over all stages of projects from enquiry to delivery.

It is important to us that you feel confident in your ability to excel in this role. This role involves significant travel, including occasional international work both onshore and offshore. You must therefore be confident in your ability to pass an offshore medical and offshore survival course. If you are an enthusiastic, methodical, practical hands‑on Mechanical Engineer, this role could be an ideal fit. Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated individuals thrive in roles like this.

You will need:

  • A good understanding of vibration and dynamic behaviour
  • A good understanding of metal fatigue failure mechanisms
  • Strong structural vibration knowledge
  • Instrumentation and data logging experience
  • Knowledge of data analysis and signal processing
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks)
  • Technical reporting skills

Applicants who can demonstrate the following will be an advantage:

  • Knowledge of FEA (ANSYS)
  • Operating Deflection Shape assessments
  • Process piping vibration assessment
