About the role
We are currently seeking a CAD Manager to join our Northumbrian Water (NWG) design team. This is an exciting opportunity to support our growing portfolio within the Water Utilities sector. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality design solutions across a range of water and wastewater projects, including both infrastructure and non-infrastructure schemes. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be involved in the full project lifecycle, from early feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design, construction, and commissioning. This position offers the chance to contribute to complex, impactful projects while supporting the continued expansion of our design capabilities.
Location: Glasgow or Durham
Salary: £48,500 - £60,000 (DOE)
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire CAD Process from initial design to final documentation
- Work to appropriate project controls, guidelines and procedures.
- Lead CAD design and document control teams and other team members in undertaking a wide range of design related tasks.
- Lead design outputs in accordance with the company and client CAD procedures and standards.
- Lead the development and implementation on CAD standards, ensuring consistency and accuracy
- Manage and mentor all grades of CAD technicians
- Support CAD software and hardware management licensing, performance and compatibility
- Manage vendor and partner CAD management relationships
- Support and develop the CAD structure and activities of the business.
- Support and promote innovation and technology
- Working collaboratively within a team environment.
About you:
- A relevant degree qualification or have completed a learning agreement/apprenticeship and obtained a relevant technical qualification (HNC, HND etc.).
- A basic understanding of the design of water/wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure works.
- Have a good understanding of BIM on a project and be able to lead on its implementation.
- Computer literate and conversant with the MS Office suite, Sharepoint and with knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud ACC, AutoCAD, Autodesk Bridge, Revit, Civils 3D, Datum 360 for asset management and or other related engineering packages
- Be familiar with water and wastewater, infrastructure and non-infrastructure design techniques and solutions.
- Have a basic knowledge of our clients and the water market in general.
- Understand the importance of delivering to programme and notifying the design lead when issues that affect delivery arise.
- Understand and use the relevant Quality Management System processes and procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations.
- Strong written and oral communication and organisational skills and to produce reports in clear concise English.
- Proven ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines.
- Client focused approach to service delivery.
- Self-motivated with the drive to achieve continuous improvement targets.
