About the role…

We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team, working on our Yorkshire Water account. This is a permanent role and will include a home working and office-based split, based from Brighouse.

What will your day look like…

  • Supporting the Commercial Team to ensure full compliance with Avove systems, processes, and commercial procedures
  • Working to strict internal and contractual deadlines, including those set out in Framework Agreements and NEC contracts
  • Assisting with the creation, monitoring, and financial reporting of subcontract orders, ensuring accurate cost control
  • Supporting the Commercial Lead in managing project costs, including preparation of financial statements and weekly/monthly reports
  • Assisting in the procurement and administration of construction contracts and the ongoing management of subcontractors
  • Collating and maintaining accurate commercial records, including variations, claims, extensions of time, and final accounts
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders and project teams to support payment applications, subcontractor administration, and commercial close-out of contracts

About you…

This role is ideal for someone with a commercial background who is looking to progress their career as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. Experience within the utilities sector would be advantageous but is not essential. A relevant degree qualification, or working towards RICS or an equivalent professional accreditation, is desirable, along with knowledge or experience of working under Framework Agreements and NEC3 or NEC4 contracts. You will be a strong relationship builder with a customer-focused approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage your time effectively, work to strict deadlines, and collaborate successfully within a team.
