About the role: Due to continued company growth, Avove is seeking to appoint an Assistant Ecologist to join our Environmental and Ecology team. The successful candidate will provide ecological support across a range of projects, including assisting with ecological surveys and preparing precautionary method statements. The role will also involve acting as an Ecological Clerk of Works when required, while supporting project teams to ensure compliance with relevant ecological legislation.
Location: Birmingham (We offer Hybrid work)
Responsibilities:
- Advise on potential ecological constraints across all stages of projects
- Keep up to date with industry best practice and guidance
- Contribute to desktop environmental assessments for proposed works
- Support ecological surveys to help identify and inform required mitigation
- Continue developing knowledge and skills as an ecologist
- Provide ecological support across a range of projects as a developing member of the ecology team
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver ecological advice and support
- Contribute to promoting and enhancing ecological awareness across the business
- Take ownership of ongoing professional development as an ecologist
- Assist senior ecologists with surveys and report writing
- Undertake Ecological Clerk of Works responsibilities where required
Skills/Experience required:
- Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Full, clean driving licence
- Ability to think creatively and problem-solve
- Pragmatic and solutions-focused approach
- Basic ecological knowledge and some practical experience
- Passion and enthusiasm for the natural environment
