About the role

We are recruiting Senior Technicians to join our UK-wide Water Design Team. These roles will support our growing Water Utilities portfolio, delivering designs for water and wastewater infrastructure and non‑infrastructure projects as part of a multi‑disciplinary team. Work will span all project stages, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design for construction and commissioning.

Location: Due to our current office locations, we are seeking applicants based in either Glasgow or Birmingham.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all relevant project controls, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Support the design team across a wide range of design tasks.
  • Produce design outputs in line with company and client CAD standards.
  • Understand BIM requirements and lead its implementation on projects.
  • Supervise Technicians and Trainee Technicians when required.
  • Apply knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure and non‑infrastructure design.
  • Understand the structure of the business and the wider water sector.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Deliver work to programme and flag any issues affecting timelines.
  • Use the required Quality Management System processes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, including CDM.

About you

  • Relevant degree or completed apprenticeship/learning agreement with a technical qualification (HNC/HND).
  • Basic understanding of water/wastewater infrastructure and non‑infrastructure design, or willingness to learn from a related civil engineering background.
  • Flexible in using Autodesk software to meet project needs.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit and Navisworks, with specialism in either Civil 3D or Revit.
  • Able to support upskilling of colleagues and contribute to developing software families/parts lists.
  • Proficient in MS Office packages.
  • Strong written, verbal and organisational skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise reports.
