Due to continued growth, Avove is seeking to appoint a Civil Engineer to support delivery across our United Utilities framework. Working predominantly on non‑infrastructure projects, this role will involve end‑to‑end design delivery at all stages of the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities will include:
- Feasibility studies and optioneering
- Detailed design for construction
- Support through commissioning
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure solutions are technically robust, efficient, and aligned with client and regulatory requirements.
Key tasks include:
- Undertake non‑infrastructure design activities with minimal supervision as part of multi‑disciplinary project teams
- Review and check the work of others, providing technical guidance and supervision to junior or less experienced staff
- Prepare and present engineering solutions through drawings, reports, calculations and other technical outputs
- Produce engineering drawings and reports, and undertake site surveys as required
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of health, safety and welfare legislation, including the Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations, and ensure these principles are embedded within designs
Applicants with equivalent experience who do not fully meet the academic criteria are also encouraged to apply. A strong technical background in the design of water and/or wastewater non‑infrastructure works is desirable, although candidates from related engineering disciplines will be considered. Computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office and a working knowledge of engineering software such as AutoCAD. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage workloads effectively within project deadlines.
