About the role...
As Planning Manager, you’ll lead the Planning and Scheduling team to ensure work is planned efficiently, safely, and in line with KPIs and SLAs. You’ll optimise resources, support Field Operations, and work closely with Yorkshire Water to deliver a reliable, high-quality service while maintaining an excellent customer experience. The role is currently based in Bradford and following an office move will be based in Leeds or Brighouse from April 2026 onwards. This is a hybrid role, working from the office 3 days per week with 2 days spent working from home typically.
What will your day look like...
- Lead, coach, and develop the Planning & Scheduling team, overseeing daily performance and delivery to ensure KPIs and objectives are consistently achieved.
- Plan and resource the team effectively, including out-of-hours and weekend coverage, to ensure seamless office operations aligned with Field Operations requirements.
- Monitor and optimise planning and scheduling performance, managing SLAs, work basket sizes, backlog volumes, and jeopardy to maintain operational flow.
- Drive productivity across planning and scheduling by minimising travel time and distance between jobs for Field Operations, while maintaining an excellent customer experience.
- Review and manage planning dependencies such as streetworks notices, permits, and traffic management, ensuring all safety and compliance prerequisites are in place before dispatch.
- Work closely and collaboratively with Yorkshire Water and key stakeholders to align priorities, resolve challenges, and support effective service delivery.
- Ensure full compliance with contractual KPIs and SLAs influenced by planning, noticing, and customer service activities.

- Proven experience leading or managing teams
- Strong knowledge of planning and scheduling systems (SAP/Advantex desirable)
- Customer-focused with a commitment to high service standards
- Confident and effective verbal communicator
- Highly computer literate and comfortable using multiple systems
- Experience working within a Utilities environment
