We are now expanding our specialist offering within the equine sports sector and are recruiting an Equine Turf Specialist to take a lead role in supporting and advising racecourses, polo grounds, and eventing venues across the UK. This is a unique opportunity to combine hands-on turf expertise with strategic industry collaboration and internal team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical support to racecourses, polo clubs, eventing venues, and other equine-focused turf customers across the UK
- Build and manage relationships with key clients and industry partners within the equine sports sector
- Offer tailored product recommendations and practical turf management solutions for high-performance equine surfaces
- Support business growth in this sector by working closely with the wider Avoncrop sales team
- Deliver training, technical updates, and mentoring to Sales Team to help develop their confidence and capability in equine turf management
- Stay informed on product innovations, industry trends, and regulatory changes relevant to equine sports turf
- Represent Avoncrop at relevant events, site visits, and through professional networks
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in managing or advising on turf for equine environments (e.g. racecourses, polo fields, eventing tracks)
- BASIS and/or FACTS certification desirable (or willingness to work toward these qualifications)
- Strong technical knowledge of turf management practices, including renovation, nutrition, and surface performance
- Confident communicator able to engage with a range of grounds staff, consultants and facility managers
- Capable of working independently and managing a nationwide territory
- Passionate about knowledge sharing and supporting the development of others
- A practical mindset, with a problem-solving attitude and attention to detail
- Willingness to travel across the UK and attend events or site meetings as required
