Avon Search is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Senior Care Assistant / Team Leader on behalf of an exceptional, independently owned residential care home located in the beautiful seaside town of Paignton, Devon. This highly regarded home provides outstanding residential and respite care for up to 44 residents aged 65 and over, offering a welcoming and supportive environment where people can enjoy later life with dignity and independence. The home has built an excellent reputation for delivering exceptional standards of person-centred care and is proud to hold an Outstanding CQC rating. Ideally located within easy walking distance of local seaside shops and sandy beaches, the home offers residents a wonderful environment in one of the most beautiful parts of Devon. Residents enjoy a warm and sociable community atmosphere, with experienced staff dedicated to helping every individual make the most of daily life.

The Role

As a Senior Care Assistant / Team Leader, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of exceptional care while providing day-to-day leadership and guidance to the care team. You will work closely with residents, families and colleagues to ensure the highest standards of person-centred care are consistently maintained. As a senior member of the team, you will lead by example, support colleagues and help create a safe, positive and welcoming environment where residents can live fulfilling and meaningful lives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, supporting and motivating care staff during day shifts
  • Delivering high-quality, person-centred care to residents
  • Assisting residents with personal care and daily living activities
  • Administering and supporting with medication, where trained and authorised
  • Maintaining accurate care records and documentation
  • Monitoring residents' wellbeing and reporting any changes appropriately
  • Promoting independence, dignity, choice and respect at all times
  • Supporting residents to participate in activities and enjoy an active social life
  • Acting as a positive role model and mentor for the wider care team
  • Helping to maintain a safe, friendly and welcoming environment

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have previous experience as a Senior Care Assistant or Team Leader within a residential or nursing care setting. You will be a compassionate and reliable care professional with excellent communication skills and the confidence to support and lead a team. We are looking for someone with:

  • Previous experience within a residential or nursing care environment
  • Experience as a Senior Care Assistant, Team Leader or similar position desirable
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care desirable
  • Medication administration experience desirable
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • A caring, compassionate and person-centred approach
  • A proactive and positive attitude
  • A genuine passion for delivering outstanding care and enhancing residents' quality of life
