Overview

Job title: Urgent Care Practitioner

Reporting to: Practice Manager and Lead GP Partner

Hours per week: 30 hours per week – Monday, Tuesday and Thursday

Location: Pembroke Road Surgery, 111 Pembroke Road, Clifton, Bristol

Salary: Range £55,690 – £62,682 (WTE) per annum (depending on experience)

Contract: Fixed-Term – Thursday 24thJuly for 8 weeks (initially)

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilledAdvanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP)or General Practice Paramedic to join our multidisciplinary team. You will provide high-quality, person-centred care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prescribing for a range of acute conditions supporting our duty team with daily acute care needs, primarily through same-day and urgent care clinics and telephone triage.

You will work both independently and collaboratively, supporting GPs, nurses, and allied health professionals to deliver safe and effective care to our local population.

The role is currently for 8 weeks fixed term but could be open to review of a permanent position.

Key responsibilities

  • Undertake autonomous clinical assessments, diagnostics, and treatment of patients
  • Provide expert management of minor illness, long term conditions, and urgent care presentations
  • Prescribe medications safely under your independent prescribing qualification
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records using EMIS
  • Work in partnership with the wider team to enhance patient outcomes and access to care

What we are looking for

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) with valid pin or HCPC registered Paramedic
  • MSc or Postgraduate diploma in Advanced Clinical Practice (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in primary care and urgent care
  • Excellent clinical reasoning, communication and decision-making skills
  • Confident management of both minor illness and complex chronic conditions
  • Minor illness/minor injury or triage training
