Overview
The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Avon and Somerset is looking to recruit a Policy and Commissioning Officer to work with us on the wide ranging activity undertaken by the Policy, Partnerships and Commissioning Directorate of the OPCC. The role is based in Portishead, near Bristol, with hybrid working.
Responsibilities
- Provide coordination support for the Policy, Partnerships and Commissioning Team, including development and regular updating of project plans as required.
- Support the effective and efficient oversight of a range of grants and contracts across the directorate.
- Organise meetings and events with both internal staff and partners.
- Undertake research to facilitate the work of the Policy, Partnerships and Commissioning Team.
- Support the analysis and scrutiny of performance information from service providers, including the Constabulary where appropriate.
- Represent the Policy, Partnerships and Commissioning Team at a range of internal and external meetings. Liaise and correspond with a range of stakeholders.

The OPCC is run by a dedicated team who support the Police and Crime Commissioner. The role of the PCC is to be the voice of local people in policing and to hold the Chief Constable to account. The aim is to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient police service within the force area. We are looking for someone who will embrace our purpose to lead improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of policing, victim support and criminal justice services on behalf of local people and our values of Openness, Partnership, Compassion and Courage.
