Recruitment Process
Once we receive your application, we will ask you to complete a Training Needs Assessment and provide evidence of your previous training records. These documents will then be reviewed by our Training Department. Please note that transferee applications are currently being assessed on a case‑by‑case basis. This helps us identify any additional training you may require upon transferring. If no further immediate training is needed, we will progress your application. If additional training is required, your start date may be delayed, as you will need to attend a Special Constable transferee course. At present, we do not have any transferee courses scheduled for 2026.
To successfully transfer, applicants must complete all of the following stages:
- College of Policing National Sift
- Interview
- Pre-Appointment Checks

- Medical
- Substance Misuse Test
- Biometrics Checks
- Vetting Reference Checks (Covering the last 5 years)
To begin your application, please complete the full online form via our applicant portal.
Posting Arrangements
Officers are normally posted within a 15‑mile journey of their home address. When assigning postings, we consider your previous skills and experience, operational requirements, and any reasonable preferences you request.
