Are you passionate about road safety? Do you want to make a real difference in your community? Our Roads Policing team are recruiting for three Road Safety Enforcement Officers. Operating as part of the wider Roads Policing Team, you will enforce road traffic laws and seek to detect and deter other illegal or dangerous activity on the road. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of all road users.

You will be responsible for monitoring traffic, enforcing road safety laws, and educating the public on safe driving practices. Your work will directly contribute to reducing collisions and saving lives on our roads.

In This Role Your Main Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Using camera detection devices and other tools to monitor road users and ensure compliance with traffic laws, recording offences for processing.
  • Attending community events to educate and engage with the public about road safety and promote safe driving habits.
  • Working closely with colleagues and community organisations to enhance road safety initiatives.
  • Attending court and giving evidence as required.
  • Effectively engaging with members of the public, utilising your excellent communication and conflict skills to ensure compliance and maintain safety on the roads.

Skills, Experience And Knowledge Required:

  • Hold a full and current driving licence.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, following probation and completion of training.
  • You will be motivated and have excellent communication skills.

Additional Information:

We are recruiting two roles, one based at Chipping Sodbury and the other at Frome. These roles involve working shifts that include evenings and weekends. Covering a 4 week shift pattern, you will work earlies 07:00-17:00; mids 10:00-20:00 and lates 12:00-22:00 (during winter hours lates become mid shifts), attracting weekend and shift working allowances. Successful applicants will be required to wear uniform to carry out their role.

Shortlisting will take place week commencing 30th March 2026. In person interviews will take place week commencing 13th April 2026. Candidates successful at the shortlisting process will be invited to attend an interview. There will also be a requirement to attend a Familiarisation event at Wilfred Fuller VC Operational Training Centre, on one of the following dates: Wednesday 8th April 10:00am – 11:00pm OR 13:00pm – 14:00pm. Thursday 9th April 15:00pm – 16:00pm OR 18:00pm – 19:00pm.

To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 3 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years.
