We are looking for a skilled Process Automation Developer to provide professional and technical expertise as a subject matter expert in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) development. You will deliver services and solutions that solve problems for citizens and colleagues across IT, contributing directly to improved efficiency and service quality. This role spans the full automation lifecycle, from analysis and design through to development, testing, deployment and support. You will work as part of a collaborative team, acting as a technical lead on projects where required, and contributing to wider architecture and automation strategy discussions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test and implement new RPA solutions through the full development lifecycle.
  • Monitor, maintain and support live automations, proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure smooth business operations.
  • Work under the direction of the Team Lead to deliver a high‑quality, customer‑focused service to the organisation and its users.
  • Research, design and implement system changes and upgrades in a timely manner, following through on recommendations and action plans.
  • Produce and maintain technical and procedural documentation to prescribed IT Directorate standards, ensuring changes are communicated promptly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain and enhance knowledge of emerging technologies and industry best practice through hands‑on experience, self‑study and agreed learning opportunities.
  • Diagnose faults within automated processes, take appropriate corrective action and escalate where necessary, ensuring issues are properly recorded, investigated and addressed.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Relevant experience in automation or software development using modern RPA technologies, such as Blue Prism.
  • Advanced understanding of RPA tools, including Blue Prism and/or Power Automate, with experience designing solutions using process flows.
  • Experience working within a collaborative, supportive team environment.
  • Experience operating within a mature IT environment, following structured processes and standards.
