As a Recording Compliance Officer you will provide a range of efficient, effective and high quality support services to the recording of criminal, safeguarding and anti-social behaviour activity. You will assist with supporting the unit with processing a range of tasks and emails and creating reports and ensure all work is delivered to a high standard within agreed timescales and in line with requirements and processes.

In this role your main responsibilities will include:

  • Working effectively in a team to achieve shared objectives, providing support and advice as required using suitable communication methods.
  • Prioritising individual workload to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Using resources (e.g. technology) effectively in own role.
  • Recording, classifying, allocating and linking incidents in accordance with the National Crime Recording Standards (NCRS) and Home Office Crime Recording (HOCR) and force policies.
  • Updating case management systems and other role relevant systems.

Skills and experience required:

  • Experience of verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to speak with individuals in a sympathetic and understanding way.
  • Knowledge of Home Office Counting Rules and national Crime Recording Standards.
  • Experience of inputting and retrieval of information from computer systems.
  • Understanding of investigative processes and policies.
  • Good IT Skills using Microsoft Packages.
  • Knowledge of Criminal Law.
  • Decision making experience.
  • Knowledge of Victims Code of Practice.
  • Ability to identify potential issues and flag accordingly.
  • Experience of working with minimum supervision using own initiative.

The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, Police Headquarters, Portishead. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager.

To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 3 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years.
