Are you ready to play a key role in building community and organisational resilience across the Avon and Somerset area? We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Emergency Planning Coordinator to join the Avon and Somerset Local Resilience Forum (ASLRF) team. This is a unique opportunity to support and coordinate multi-agency emergency planning, training, and exercising, helping improve preparedness for major incidents across the region.

About The Role

Working closely with a wide range of partner organisations, you will:

  • Support and coordinate the development and maintenance of multi-agency emergency response plans.
  • Organise and facilitate meetings at all levels, bringing together agencies with different structures and approaches to foster collaboration.
  • Provide tactical and strategic support during major incidents and help agencies implement lessons identified from incidents and exercises.
  • Guide and advise partners on emergency planning matters, ensuring plans meet legal requirements and best practice.
  • Promote public and business engagement in resilience-building initiatives.

This role offers continuous development opportunities and a blended working approach. However, regular travel across the region is required to attend meetings, training sessions and workshops. Therefore, you will ideally hold a full current driving licence or be able to travel around the force area using alternative transport.

Main Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support multi-agency planning for serious incidents and emergencies.
  • Ensure emergency plans are integrated, compliant with statutory duties, and aligned with strategic/tactical requirements.
  • Advise the ASLRF Executive and Business Management Groups on planning and emerging resilience issues.
  • Monitor relevant legislation and guidance, updating plans accordingly.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with local, regional, and national resilience partners.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels.
  • Strong self-management, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work independently.
  • Proven ability to produce clear, concise reports and analyse complex information.
  • Demonstrated experience in a multi-agency setting, ideally with a focus on community resilience or engagement.
  • A sound understanding of emergency planning, including the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
  • Experience in project management, research, and report writing.

The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, Police Headquarters, Portishead. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager.

Shortlisting is planned to take place week commencing 7th July 2025. Applications successful at shortlisting will be invited to attend interview week commencing 21st July 2025.
