The Lighthouse Safeguarding Unit is a multi‑disciplinary team focused on supporting vulnerable victims after domestic abuse, sexual offences, hate crime and other crimes. We are looking for two Safeguarding Co‑ordination Unit Officers: one 37 hours per week based at Keynsham Police Centre and one 25 hours per week working within the MISPER team at Keynsham, Bridewell or Bridgwater. The role can be blended, allowing a proportion of the week to be worked from home.
Key responsibilities
- Assist and cooperate with external and internal customers, both verbally and in writing, in respect of public protection enquiries.
- Identify and research information and intelligence held by the force regarding vulnerable individuals and those who pose a risk, to assist with the risk management process.
- Utilise a range of information and intelligence sources to compile effective reports.
- Identify victims that require a risk assessment and safeguarding plan and refer to other departments to keep people safe.
- Undertake referrals and share relevant information held by the Police Service with core multi‑agency partners.
Skills, experience and qualifications
- A good working knowledge of data protection and the ability to handle matters of a confidential nature.
- Experience researching large volumes of information from a range of sources.
- Ability to take a methodical approach to work, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a team.
- Experience of report writing, working with multi‑agency partners and a working knowledge of safeguarding is desirable.

Additional information
Full training and mentoring will be provided for this role. Working hours are Monday to Friday (between 8am and 5pm), with flexibility to discuss arrangements with the successful candidate.
