In this role, your main responsibilities will be

  • Designing, creating, and delivering training courses and all associated materials to police employees and occasionally to external customers.
  • Assisting with the testing of relevant software including enhancements and system developments.
  • Identifying faults and reporting these issues to system owners.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of training programmes and training sessions.

Skills, experience and qualifications required

  • Hold a training qualification or award at Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AEAT) or be able to demonstrate relevant training experience and be prepared to work towards a qualification at this level.
  • Experience of designing, delivering and developing a wide range of training courses to a range of audiences.
  • Skilled computer user with experience of using presentation, database and Microsoft Windows applications.
  • Experience of measuring results, giving meaningful constructive feedback and producing action plans.
  • Experience of testing or using new software and systems.

Additional Information

We have two full time roles available: one is a permanent position, and the other is a temporary maternity cover contract, potentially running until January 2027.

These roles are based at Police Headquarters in Portishead, with flexibility to work from home when teaching commitments permit.

Shortlisting will take place week commencing 3rd November 2025.

Applicants who are successfully shortlisted will be invited to attend an interview and teaching-based assessment on either the 18th or 19th of November 2025.

To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 3 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years.
