The South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) is looking for an Intelligence Researcher keen to progress their career within the Tackling Organised Exploitation (TOEX) Team. The TOEX team is an intelligence capability dedicated to tackling issues surrounding exploitation. Our team provides intelligence, analytical, and technical expertise to support forces in investigations related to modern slavery, human trafficking, organised immigration crime, county lines, and both adult and child sexual abuse and exploitation.

As a researcher, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding victims and disrupting those who seek to profit from exploitation, whether through localised crime or organised criminal networks. You will be involved in all aspects of the TOEX capability, offering research and suggestions to support operational activities, proactive operations, and engagement with partner agencies.

Responsibilities (examples)

  • Be embedded within investigations from the outset through to trial (MCIT).
  • Work collaboratively to identify data sources, develop lines of enquiry, and uncover opportunities to enhance understanding of each case.
  • Contribute to the development of intelligence products that support investigations and evidential outcomes.

Skills, experience and qualifications

  • Essential: IPP accreditation or willingness to gain it; computer literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft Packages.
  • Experience communicating effectively, conducting qualitative and quantitative research, and report writing.
  • Full current driving licence or ability to travel within the force area using alternative transport.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of data protection and the European Court of Human Rights and of intelligence processes.

Travel and blended working

Blended working; flexible where operationally possible. The role may involve home and police premises locations. All applicants must reside in the UK.
