Avon and Somerset Police are looking for a compassionate, experienced and forward-thinking Senior Occupational Health Nurse Advisor to join their Occupational Health team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead, influence and shape occupational health delivery within one of the UK’s largest police forces. This role offers a blended working arrangement with a minimum of 60% on-site attendance each week. You’ll work across a number of police sites including Portishead, Bristol, Keynsham, Bridgwater, Yeovil and South Gloucestershire, alongside opportunities to work from home where operationally appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of Occupational Health professionals
  • Manage a complex and varied clinical caseload
  • Deliver health surveillance, wellbeing clinics and pre-employment assessments
  • Provide specialist occupational health advice to managers and employees
  • Support staff with health conditions, workplace adjustments and redeployment
  • Contribute to policy development, service improvement and strategic wellbeing initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with HR, Health & Safety and leadership teams
  • Deputise for the Occupational Health Unit Lead when required
  • Support quality standards, systems development and multidisciplinary triage processes

Skills, experience and qualifications

  • Registered General Nurse qualification
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health
  • Experience within Occupational Health practice
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong organisational and decision-making abilities
  • A collaborative and supportive leadership style
  • Confidence working independently and managing priorities
  • Ability to travel across the force area
  • Experience using systems such as Cority would be advantageous
