The South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) is seeking a Financial Investigator Supervisor to progress their career as part of the Regional Economic and Cyber Crime Unit.

Location

Northern Hub, Bristol (BS34 6PY) or Southern Hub, Exeter (EX2 7HQ). The role may require travel to either hub.

Hours

Full time or part time.

Responsibilities

  • Act as case officer for complex investigations under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, including money laundering, asset forfeiture, confiscation enforcement and Civil Recovery.
  • Supervise and manage a team of financial investigators, ensuring case work meets court‑ready standards.
  • Develop and implement financial investigation strategies in partnership with Senior Investigating Officers and the Crown Prosecution Service.
  • Monitor and support CPD compliance for the team, helping trainee staff achieve accreditation in financial investigation and confiscation.
  • Prepare and present case material, including financial statements, to courts and other agencies.
  • Required Qualifications – Essential
  • Accredited by the National Crime Agency as a Confiscator.
  • Experience managing investigations for legal proceedings.
  • Statutory or equivalent advertising ‘PIP1’ accreditation or equivalent.
  • Track record of staff management and development.
  • Full current driving licence or proven ability to travel within the region.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Experience interacting with external agencies such as CPS and Court Services, maintaining professional relationships.
  • Strong decision‑making ability under complex, risk‑laden, deadline‑driven environments.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including report and presentation writing.
  • Sound knowledge of financial legislation and practical experience with Proceeds of Crime Act investigations.
  • Additional / Useful Experience
  • Compiling Court files.
  • Managing investigations in a criminal justice context.
  • Court presentation experience.
  • Previous involvement in Serious Organised Crime investigations and enforcement.
  • Tutoring or mentoring trainee financial investigators.
