We are currently looking for an experienced Document Controller to join a construction project based in the Poole / Bournemouth area. This is a site-based role, although candidates can be based locally in either Poole or Bournemouth.
This position will support the Project Director and operational site team, ensuring that all drawings, technical documentation and project records are managed accurately throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will be confident working in a busy construction environment, comfortable liaising with senior project leadership and proactive in chasing outstanding documentation from project teams and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities- Provide document control and administrative support to the Project Director and operational team on site.
- Manage incoming and outgoing drawings, specifications and technical documentation, ensuring all documents are correctly logged, distributed and version controlled.
- Upload drawings and O&M documentation to contractor portals and manage comments through to close-out.
- Maintain accurate document registers and progress trackers to monitor documentation status and ensure deadlines are met.
- Attend project meetings where required, record meeting minutes and circulate to relevant stakeholders.
- Liaise with engineers, consultants, subcontractors and commissioning specialists to ensure timely document submissions.
- Monitor drawing revisions and technical submittals, ensuring site teams are aware of updates or design changes.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, complete and compliant before issuing.
- Support the site team with commissioning documentation, RAMS tracking and technical submissions.
- Assist with general project administration including issuing site drawings, maintaining document registers, managing site records and uploading documentation to project servers.
- Previous experience working as a Document Controller or Project Administrator within construction.
- Experience managing drawings, O&M manuals and technical documentation.
- Confident communicating with site teams, subcontractors and senior project leadership.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to chase and manage documentation across multiple stakeholders.
- Experience using document management systems such as Aconex, Procore or SharePoint would be beneficial.
- Must be comfortable working site-based.
