We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Contracts Manager to take responsibility for a key commercial contract based in the Brighton & Hove area. This is a hands-on role, managing day-to-day operations while leading engineers and apprentices to deliver reactive, maintenance, remedial and installation works to a high standard.
This position would suit a confident Contracts Manager with strong technical knowledge, excellent client-facing skills, and proven experience managing electrical projects within a commercial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Full responsibility for the day-to-day management of a local commercial electrical contract, including reactive, maintenance, remedial and installation works
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, including commercial and local authority stakeholders
- Manage projects typically ranging from £50k–£100k in value
- Prepare quotations, financial budgets, work schedules and client reports
- Attend client meetings and maintain accurate records using an internal works management system
- Proactively identify and support new business opportunities
Line Management & Supervision
- Direct line management of engineers, lead engineers and site supervisors
- Provide mentoring, performance management and ongoing support to the team
- Supervise subcontractors and deliver toolbox talks and team meetings as required
- Complete annual staff appraisals and implement follow-up actions
Compliance & Technical
- Ensure all works comply with current electrical regulations and legal requirements
- Provide technical support to engineers, clients and internal teams
- Work towards or operate as NICEIC Qualified Supervisor, completing associated duties
- Interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation throughout project delivery
Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, quality and environmental procedures
- Develop and implement RAMS
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance checks
- Complete non-conformance investigations and support H&S/CPD training material development
Financial Management
- Order materials and services for assigned works
- Monitor costs, approve expenditure and manage budgets in line with internal processes
- Produce job costings, WIP figures and financial reports
- Submit accurate applications and invoices in line with client requirements
About You
- Strong knowledge of commercial electrical installations
- Confident managing teams, clients and multiple workstreams
- Proactive, organised and hands-on when required
- Full UK driving licence
