We have been tasked with looking to recruit for an Operations Director and lead for this Specialist Contractor based in both Jersey and Guernsey. This role will primarily focus on leading the Guernsey part of the business and will involve a range of activities as both a main contractor and a subcontractor providing specialist services across most construction sectors.

Ideally we are seeking someone with a technical/engineering background and on-site construction or civil engineering experience at Project Manager/Contract Manager level. The requirement is to expand the Guernsey business, and they feel the need to take on a managing director to take control of that with current senior management based in Jersey. At present, they have 11 staff, which will rise to 14 in Guernsey and 25+ in Jersey which will rise also.

Ideally looking for someone with a technical background with a mixture of skills including:

  • client liaison
  • client development
  • technical appraisal
  • technical management
  • site quality and cost control (pre-construction)
  • supervision of site supervisors and engineers
  • financial control and reporting

You will be supported by a very strong Operations Manager who is strong on the administrative and financial side and will also be supported by a really well-drilled site supervision team. The group is ideally looking for someone with an engineering background, either mechanical, electrical or civil. Or someone who has worked in Senior Management roles for a specialist contractor. Ideally staff and employee focused, that’s positive with stakeholders and is keen to make a difference and be able to forge strong relationships on the island with clients and the supply chain.
