Our client is an established independent financial advisory firm based close to Exeter, specialising in providing holistic financial advice to medical professionals and successful business owners. They believe in honesty, effective communication, and expertise, understanding that finance can be intricate and demanding.

About the Role

This permanent position is fully remote but the main office is in Topsham, Exeter. You will be delivering mortgage and protection advice to the highest standards while building and maintaining professional relationships with clients who are successful in their own fields. With a focus on achieving good client outcomes and adhering to FCA rules, you will have the opportunity to develop external business relationships and participate in business development projects.

Mortgage Broker Responsibilities

  • Determine client expenses, income, insurance coverage, financial objectives, and tax status to advise on suitable mortgages and protection
  • Answer client queries regarding the mortgage and protection process and recommendations
  • Build and maintain your client base through exceptional service delivery
  • Handle re-mortgage clients efficiently and professionally
  • Stay updated on FCA financial regulations, market trends, and industry developments
  • Seek and develop new external business relationships and opportunities
  • Participate in proposition development and business development projects
  • Develop relationships with professional introducers, product providers, and relevant parties
  • Deliver recommendations that achieve good client outcomes
  • Cover responsibilities for colleagues during absences as required

Mortgage Broker Requirements

Essential:

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Mortgage and Protection Adviser with demonstrably successful track record
  • Qualified to CII CF6 (Mortgage Advice), CII R01, and CII R05 (Financial Protection) or CeMAP equivalent
  • Strong analytical skills to assess complex financial data and recommend suitable solutions
  • Deep understanding of financial markets and in-depth knowledge of mortgage and protection policies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build trust and rapport
  • Ability to explain financial concepts clearly to clients with varying financial literacy levels
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong problem-solving skills
  • High ethical standards with commitment to acting in clients' best interests
  • Proficiency with software including MS Office Suite, Acre, and provider platforms
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and manage conflicting deadlines
