About the Role
As a Marine Lawyer, you will join a dynamic team providing expert advice on maritime law and shipping matters to a wide portfolio of marine clients. The work is predominantly wet shipping and includes P&I and Defence work, Admiralty cases including collisions, pollution and total losses, as well as some non-contentious matters. The position offers a blend of challenging legal work and client relationship building, with opportunities to represent the department at industry events in the UK and abroad.
Marine Lawyer Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice on maritime law and shipping matters
- Handle P&I and Defence work, including complex Admiralty cases
- Manage a diverse caseload of wet shipping litigation matters
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on specialised maritime issues
- Represent clients in negotiations and legal proceedings
- Network and build relationships with clients and industry contacts
- Attend and represent the firm at marine industry events and shows
- Contribute to business development and marketing initiatives
- Support the continued growth and development of the Marine Department
- Mentor junior team members as appropriate
Marine Lawyer Requirements
- Qualified solicitor or legal executive with 3+ years PQE in civil litigation
