Farnell, an Avnet company, is a global high-service distributor of technology products, services and solutions for electronic system design, maintenance and repair. Join our Distribution Team in Leeds 15 as a Forklift Truck (FLT) Trainer. You'll be our onsite specialist, crucial for cross-training on various equipment including: PPTs, Counterbalance trucks, LLOPs, Reach trucks, Flexi Trucks, VNAs, HLOPs and Scissor Lifts.
Your expertise in FLT training will be pivotal in swiftly reassessing drivers after incidents to avoid operational downtime. Additionally, you'll play a key role in updating operating procedures and ensuring compliance through effective training delivery across the operation. Driving continuous improvements and encouraging professional development is essential to the business, therefore you will play a key role supporting in the delivery of training in all areas of the operation, including induction, cross training, skills assessment, compliance training, etc. to ensure a versatile training service is provided to the operation - building capability to be able to deliver in an automated environment.
To be successful in your application, our successful candidate must be a qualified instructor with either a valid RTITB or AITT qualification and be flexible to work day shifts, night shifts, or weekend shifts in alignment with training needs.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:- Must have a valid AITT or RTITB instructor license
- Must have proven experience as an instructor within a fast-paced and agile environment.
- Proven ability to learn new software, systems and processes quickly and deliver subsequent training sessions with confidence
- Excellent interpersonal skills - confidence, liaising and communicating with employees at all levels of the organisation
- Effective time management/prioritisation skills
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to work in a pressurised, fast-paced environment, demonstrating a positive attitude to change
What will you be doing?
- To deliver all aspects of FLT, induction, and operational training
- Deliver re-training / new process training to a specific area
- Coordinate cross-training to create a multi-skilled workforce
- Participate in recruitment workshop for FLT Drivers
- Sign off on training and feedback concerns with the department manager
- To build effective relationships with DC colleagues, including Team Leaders and Shift Managers.
- To ensure all Health and Safety Training, including refresher and anniversary training, is conducted within agreed timescales
- Control and update of local training matrix, ensuring all refresher training is in date and that all members of the team have relevant training documentation for the day-to-day tasks carried out
- Productive support to operational areas as and when volumes dictate
- Keep CPD log up to date (Continuous Professional Development), ensuring knowledge and ability always remains current and professional development is regularly addressed with the Training Manager to facilitate personal training and development needs within the business
- Accountability for training documentation, ensuring it is completed accurately, efficiently, and all audit trails are in place
- Responsibility for monitoring and tracking learner progress and providing regular updates to the Training Supervisor

- Accountable for the training needs of all operational staff within the Leeds DC.
- Always maintains a clean and safe working environment.
- Communicates with peers and the senior leadership team regarding ongoing performance and areas of improvement.
- Drives engagement and collaboration to create a safe, efficient and engaged working environment
