Our team in Leeds, West Yorkshire are looking for a Finance Manager. This is a flexible, hybrid working role, giving you the work-life balance to work from home 2 days and from the office 3 days.

We are looking for a qualified or QBE, with experience in general ledger and financial records within various general accounting functions. We are particularly interested in experience of inventory and Gross Margin accounting.

You will be responsible for collecting and analysing multiple different financial data sets and overseeing the successful and accurate closure of the month-end process for multiple ledgers across EMEA. This role is for an inquisitive minded and highly organised individual who can work collaboratively as part of a busy team and build strong relationships with wider stakeholders.

You will also get involved in a wide range of activities including:

  • Preparing reports, statements, analyses and/or recommendations for internal and/or external use.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for ensuring accurate monthly Gross Margin Accounting, for Farnell EMEA.
  • Ownership for Farnell EMEA inventory valuation & related SOX Requirements.
  • Line Management Responsibility of the Margin Accountant.
  • Working with the wider business on inventory & Gross Margin issues, owning the resolutions from an accounting point of view.
  • Journal Entries, provision calculations, accruals/prepayments, finance related queries and tasks.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations & reviews.
  • Month End Reviews.
  • Active role in period end close in ensuring tasks are completed to time.
  • Work closely with Overseas BPO on a day to day basis to assist with resolution of escalated issues.
  • Accounting risks/issues highlighted clearly on a timely basis and driven to resolution.
  • Continuous improvement projects.
  • Supporting / Deputising for the Senior Finance Manager when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key skills required:

  • Very comfortable working in changeable environment and seeks continuous improvement.
  • Very strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Good understanding of robust control environment.
  • Good attention to detail but able to step back and see the big picture.
  • Experience of working in a Finance office, preferably with multiple entities.
  • Experience of a relevant accounting role for typically 8+ years.
  • Strong analytical skills - with experience working with excel, extracting and the manipulation of data.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and sometimes having to investigate/analyse data to find answers rather than following rigid instructions.
  • To manage own workload and work toward tight deadlines.
  • Must be detail orientated with excellent attention to detail.
  • Practical approach and a confident self-starter – the ability to work independently and with a strong desire to be involved, particularly with balance sheet reviews, query investigations, accruals and accounting expenses.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with staff at all levels of the organisation, both within Finance and non-Finance Functions.
