This is an exciting opportunity to shape and drive Avnet's global environmental product compliance strategy at a time of increasing regulatory complexity and customer focus on sustainability. As our Environmental Product Compliance Manager, you'll become the subject matter expert for environmental compliance matters across a truly global organisation, influencing business decisions, supplier engagement and customer relationships.
Responsibilities
- Lead development and continuous improvement of Avnet's global environmental product compliance framework, ensuring distributed products meet evolving regulatory requirements worldwide.
- Develop and maintain environmental product compliance policies, processes and governance frameworks to support global regulatory compliance.
- Analyze compliance obligations, risks and potential solutions through detailed cost-benefit assessments and recommend effective business strategies.
- Act as primary subject matter expert for environmental product compliance matters across Avnet; provide guidance to internal teams, suppliers and customers on requirements and best practices.
- Create and deliver training, compliance resources and knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance organisational understanding and awareness.
- Produce clear and engaging compliance communications that demonstrate Avnet's environmental compliance programmes and capabilities.
- Monitor global regulatory developments, industry standards and customer expectations to ensure policies remain current and effective.
- Manage third-party compliance service providers, review deliverables, monitor performance and ensure audit readiness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align compliance strategies with business objectives, customer requirements and supplier expectations.
- Represent Avnet at industry forums, professional associations and external events to support compliance initiatives and strengthen Avnet's market presence.
- Contribute to ongoing development and future growth of the environmental product compliance function, including potential leadership of a specialist team.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years' experience within environmental product compliance, product stewardship, regulatory compliance or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of global environmental product regulations, including extended producer responsibility (EPR), product safety legislation and chemical substance compliance.
- Experience interpreting complex regulatory requirements and translating them into practical business processes and guidance.
- The ability to assess compliance risks and conduct cost-benefit analyses to support strategic decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to influence and advise stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience working across multiple regions, cultures and business functions within a global organisation.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Strong technical proficiency across Microsoft Office applications, ERP systems such as SAP, content management platforms and emerging technologies including AI-based tools.
- The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver results with minimal supervision.
