Powertrain NVH Development Engineer
AVL Powertrain UK Ltd is currently seeking a Powertrain NVH Development Engineer which will play a key role in supporting Start Of Production (SOP) projects. You will join the team with the primary objective to work closely with our customers to develop, test and optimise the NVH performance of their powertrain (electrified and conventional) for future vehicle programs.
Furthermore, you will be expected to take ownership for planning and executing test work on development vehicles and rigs, providing clear and concise data analysis and reporting/recommendations to customer teams (focused but not limited to electric drive unit, high voltage components).
Our engineers are typically exposed to multiple different projects during their career working with us, including increasing opportunities in the field of electrified powertrains and virtualised development. The role is therefore particularly suited to flexible people who will enjoy the opportunity to gain experience in new areas and who can rapidly self-start, combining a pro-active attitude, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and an outstanding technical engineering background.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the vehicle and rig testing from requirement definition, instrumentation to data analysis and reporting.
- Definition of the testing requirement (technical and timing).
- Conducting vehicle and/or rig testing where required.
- Supervision of the testing facility set up, to ensure rig and Unit Under Test (UUT) fulfill requirement.
- Technical direction to test facilities & other stakeholders.
- Data processing and analysis that will be used to make engineering decisions.
- Providing regular updates on project and testing status to all project stakeholders.
YOUR PROFILE:
Essential:
• Minimum of 2:1 Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering area (Mechanical, Automotive, etc.).
• Experience in powertrain NVH development and/or testing.
• Ability to perform issue identification and troubleshooting.
• Ability to process vehicle and/or rig NVH data.
• Excellent analytical skills with ability to summarise and make clear technical recommendations.
• Self-starter with the ability work with high level instruction.
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively, both written and verbal, with AVL and customer/supplier team members.
• Flexible and adaptable and willing to work in different engineering projects.
Preferable:
• Electric Drive Unit experience and knowledge.
• High Voltage powertrain components knowledge.
• Simcenter TestLab Neo and Python experience.
• Experienced in developing NVH process and methods.
• Agile / Scrum process.

Annual Remuneration: Due to UKVI compliance requirements, we are obligated to state the annual gross salary (full-time) for this position. The salary range is between £33,000 – £45,000 and we will offer market-conforming remuneration taking qualifications and professional experience into account.
