Contract: Temporary (12 months, subject to review)
Job Overview: AVL Powertrain UK Ltd offers a job in the United Kingdom (GB) as a Controls Engineer to join our Controls Team in Coventry. This role requires working with other team members and the customer to deliver controls and powertrain engineering projects according to the plan.
Temporary role details: Initially a fixed-term period of 12 months, subject to review with a view of being extended or made permanent based on business requirements.
Your Responsibilities:
- Support process for powertrain control requirements development
- Design, simulate, implement, debug, test and research control and estimation algorithms for various electrical, mechanical, and thermal systems in powertrain systems
- Engage with suppliers and other stakeholders to review hardware and software attributes
- Develop the Software and Controls for the electrified powertrain
Your Profile:
Essential:
- Engineering/Science Degree (or equivalent)
- Automotive engineering knowledge / experience in design and validation for electrified powertrain systems
- Experience of automotive control systems software development, data logging and calibration tools
- Proficient in MS office tools (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Willingness and ability to interface constructively with a global team
- Driving license valid for driving in the UK
Preferable:
- Experience in electrified powertrain area
- Knowledge in machine learning, AI algorithms and predictive control systems
- A working knowledge of vehicle architectures, communication protocols CANFD, FlexRay and Automotive Ethernet
- Awareness of ISO 26262 and ASPICE
- Experience with Vector (e.g., CANalyzer, CANape) and Mathworks tools (e.g., Matlab/Simulink) or equivalent
- Ability to work in an agile work environment
