We are seeking a highly skilled AutoCAD Modular Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing Modular Services team. In this role, they will be responsible for designing mechanical layouts and solutions for LV/MV Modular Power Pods, supporting the delivery of next‑generation modular electrical infrastructure for critical power applications. Working closely with our Sales, Engineering, BIM, production, and project delivery teams, you will produce detailed mechanical designs, manufacturing information, and coordinated layouts that ensure our Modular Power Pods are compliant, buildable, and optimised for off‑site fabrication and on‑site installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed 2D and 3D mechanical designs for LV/MV Modular Power Pods using AutoCAD and associated design tools.
- Develop fabrication drawings, GA layouts, mechanical schematics, and build packs for off‑site modular assembly.
- Collaborate with electrical design, BIM, and production teams to ensure fully coordinated, clash‑free mechanical designs.
- Interpret electrical schematics, LV layouts, and equipment specifications to integrate mechanical systems effectively into modular solutions.
- Support DFMA (Design for Manufacture & Assembly) workflows to improve build efficiency and product standardisation.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards.
- Provide technical support during build, FAT, installation, and commissioning stages.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the modular product range.
Experience & Skills Required
- Strong experience creating detailed mechanical designs using AutoDesk Inventor and Revit.
- Background in modular construction, mechanical design, or MEP integration.
- Ability to interpret GA drawings, equipment datasheets, layout requirements, and engineering specifications.
- Experience working within multi‑discipline design environments.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, production teams, and project stakeholders.
- Understanding of off‑site manufacturing principles and modular build workflows.
- Experience designing systems that incorporate LV/MV electrical equipment, switchgear, or power distribution assemblies.
- Familiarity with BIM coordination tools (Revit/Navisworks).
- Knowledge of airflow, cooling/CFD, lifting, access, and other mechanical considerations relevant to modular enclosures.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Product Design, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
- Autodesk or AutoCAD certifications (advantageous).
