We are looking for an experienced

M&E Commercial Manager to partner with an Operations Director overseeing a business unit generating £100m+ annual revenue across multiple projects.

This is a senior leadership role for a commercially astute professional who thrives in a fastpaced environment and has a proven track record of delivering successful financial outcomes while leading high-performing commercial teams.

As Commercial Manager, you will lead all commercial, contractual, procurement, and financial aspects of a portfolio of major construction projects.

Working closely with operational teams, clients, and supply chain partners, you will drive profitability, manage risk, and ensure projects are delivered successfully from inception through to final account.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead project and portfolio commercial management across multiple live projects.
  • Manage contracts, claims, variations, risk, and compliance.
  • Oversee cost control, forecasting, cash flow, valuations, and financial reporting.
  • Develop procurement strategies and negotiate subcontractor and supplier agreements.
  • Support project delivery teams with value engineering and commercial advice.
  • Build strong client and stakeholder relationships and act as the commercial lead.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks while maximising opportunities.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors, including line management responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager managing multiple projects and QS teams.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts (FIDIC, JCT, or similar).
  • Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong leadership experience with the ability to develop and motivate teams.
  • Membership of RICS, CIOB, or similar is desirable.
  • A master's degree in Construction Law or a related field would be advantageous.
