Description

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the Commercial Team within the business unit (Pods).

The successful candidate will have willingness to learn and be able to communicate well.

The role is a developing role and a great opportunity for the successful candidate(s) to develop a career as well as structured training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with procurement - issuing tender enquiries, completing tender evaluation, preparing recommendations and completing contract particulars and documentation.
  • Prepare and monitor cashflow forecasts for projects.
  • Manage application, certification and invoice schedules for Subcontractors & Suppliers.
  • Assist with application preparation and variations to client.
  • Assist with preparing Job Cost Reports (JCR's).
  • Monitor Supply Chain KPIs and update database.
  • Maintain records and tasks for Commercial Department.
  • Input data for analysis.
  • Other Commercial and Project administration and support tasks in the support of the Pod's overall objectives.

Requirements

  • For the entry level trainee role, no previous work experience is necessary however candidates should have a minimum of GCSEs with above average grades in mathematics, Information Technology and other core subjects.

Candidates would be eligible to be sponsored by AVK for an apprenticeship style pathway.

  • For entry level trainee roles where candidates have completed A Levels (or equivalent), there is the opportunity to join on an apprenticeship style pathway commencing with a part-time degree or degree equivalent qualification.
  • Career changers may be considered if they have come from either a Mechanical or Electrical Trades background, or from a background where they have dealt with finance (for example – accounting, banking).
  • For Assistant level roles, a minimum of three years previous experience is required in a contracting organisation (whether that is Main Contractor or Specialist Subcontractor).

Depending on existing qualifications there shall also be the opportunity to develop through part-time qualifications whether they be NVQ, Degree or degree equivalent or professional qualifications
