A bit about the job
We’re looking for a Senior Technical Underwriting Specialist to join our Chief Underwriting Office. You’ll help shape the future of underwriting across a wide range of products and platforms, provide expert insight, drive innovation, and ensure we stay ahead of emerging risks. You’ll also work closely with product heads and underwriters to set standards, improve propositions, and deliver great outcomes for our customers.
What you’ll do
- Support Financial Lines underwriting across all platforms: Global, Corporate & Specialty, Lloyd’s, Regional, SME, and Digital.
- Provide expert guidance on complex underwriting matters across products like D&O, PI, FI, Crime, M&A, Legal Indemnities, Surety, and Cyber.
- Collaborate with the wider team to set underwriting standards, define risk appetite, and issue technical guidance.
- Improve products and wordings in response to legal and market changes.
- Deliver training to underwriters, brokers, and partners.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to shape governance and improve processes.
- Stay ahead of emerging risks and global trends.
- Champion good customer outcomes and regulatory compliance.
Skills and experience we’re looking for
- Experience within Financial Lines within a senior Underwriting, Claims, Broking, Reinsurance, Actuarial, or Legal role (within a Legal, Professional or Financial Services business).
- Strong understanding of underwriting processes and regulatory frameworks.
- Interest in ESG, emerging risks, and international developments.
- A collaborative mindset and passion for mentoring.
- Commitment to inclusivity and continuous improvement.
