Risk & Controls Specialist

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Risk and Control Specialist to join our 1st line Risk & Governance Team. If you care about doing a phenomenal job and putting the customer at the heart of everything you do, then this could be the role for you!
A bit about the job:
The role sits at the heart of our business within the Governance & Resilience Operations (G&RO) area of the UKIWR Governance and Assurance (G&A) Team. Reporting to the Risk and Governance Manager within G&RO, you will play a key role in delivering first line risk and assurance services across our important business standards. Working closely with senior leadership teams, first, second- and third-line risk partners, third-party supplier leads, Global functions and a network of internal and external business partners, you will proactively identify, assess, and document operational risks within the business unit.
Part of your day-to-day activities will be to conduct regular risk assessments to ensure that all potential risks are identified and appropriately mitigated. You will lead or support the delivery of regular control assessments to ensure that all controls are in place and functioning as intended and develop, implement, and monitor mitigation and remediation strategies. Managing issues and risk events will be a core part of your role, including development of plans and implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence. You will maintain comprehensive, up-to-date risk documentation and provide regular reports and insights to senior management to support informed decision-making.
You will ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies and stay updated on changes in regulations and industry standard methodologies.
Skills and experience we are looking for:
- Knowledge and experience in risk and governance related roles, including working with risk and control frameworks and risk management tools such as IBM OpenPages and Archer.
- A Good understanding of any of the business standards in scope (Information Technology, Business Protection, Operational Resilience, Procurement and Outsourcing and Health and Safety) and underlying control frameworks.
- Experience of operational risk management and control assessment.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to interpret data and generate insights and recommendations. Experienced in producing reporting for senior management and proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, combined with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
