We have a great opportunity for an experienced Property Underwriting Manager to join our team and take the lead on our underwriting strategy and performance across the property commercial portfolio.
A bit about the job:
Following continued growth across the business, Aviva are looking for a Property Underwriting Manager to join their Chief Underwriting Office within Commercial Lines. This role spans our entire commercial business including Digital, Schemes, Mid-Market and Global Corporate & Specialty.
Within the role you will be responsible for setting the strategy and appetite for our UK General Insurance Commercial lines property class and over sighting underwriting to deliver agreed premium and profit objectives. The role requires an in-depth knowledge of the property market to facilitate data led decision making, identifying emerging risks and opportunities and providing solutions for sophisticated underwriting problems within authority & Aviva’s risk appetite. You will lead a team of tenacious underwriters and wording technical specialists to set the philosophy, standards, risk appetite processes, pricing and strategy across the business.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- The highest level of technical knowledge in property underwriting, sufficient to represent the company in external discussions including market forums
- Ability to lead and motivate a team
- Knowledge of socio-economic and legal environment as it affects insurance
- Ability to think and act long term both strategically and operationally with a view to improving customer outcomes and experience
- Excellent relationship management skills including stakeholder management at senior levels to drive and influence decisions
